Well I don't think I've seen this before. Taking the term digital art to the extreme, New York's Oli Goldsmith embeds LCD screens into canvas frames and called them 'videocanvases'. Clever.
Oli says
"By embedding screens directly into canvases I am starting to blend these two worlds and introduce motion and an amazing dynamic element of digital video to artworks that really serve to make them feel like living, evolving entities.
My first such ‘videocanvases’ use an approach that excitingly allows for the video content to be expanded through flash memory cards. Seeing beyond this type of expansion though, and definitely the most pivotal element in this new direction of all, is the use of screens that are WiFi enabled (wirelessly connected to the net in the same way your laptop is today)."
