CALL FOR ENTRIES
Digital Show 4 x Independents Biennial Liverpool 2008
The Successful ONLINE Exhibition of International Digital Art is Calling for Entries for November 2008 Exhibition
To be launched November 1st 2008 as part of the Independents strand of Liverpool Biennial 2008 (see www.biennial.com and www.independentsbiennial.org)
Call for Submissions (Deadline October 20th, 2008)
digitalshow.co.uk was created by artinliverpool.com, it is an International Digital Art website showing online (occasional off-line) exhibitions of high quality digital art. This will be the fourth in the series which started with the Independent Biennial Liverpool in 2006 and the second & third as part of Futuresonic 2007 & 08 Urban Festival of Electronic Arts and Music in Manchester, UK.
Entry is open to all worldwide. Digital Show at Independents Biennial Liverpool 2008 runs from 1 – 30 November. As well as the online gallery we plan to show the successful works on monitors at Novas Contemporary Urban Centre, Liverpool (tbc).
Digital Art for the purposes of this exhibition is defined as artwork that has been entirely or at least substantially created using computer software. e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, Flash, 3ds Max, Maya, Bryce etc.
Still images only, no animations, videos or photographs.
What we are looking for is exciting, interesting painting and drawing rather than examples of your knowledge of the software tools, filters etc. New work is preferred.
The Theme is ‘Made Up’ to respond to the theme of Liverpool Biennial 2008.
Here are some definitions of ‘Made Up’.
- Having been fabricated; invented: a made-up story.
- Changed or adorned by the application of cosmetics or makeup: a made-up actor.
- Complete; finished: a made-up package.
- Put together; arranged: a made-up page of type
and here in Liverpool it can mean ‘very pleased’
e.g. I’m made up that my artwork is appearing in Digital Show!
This is not a competition and there is no money involved but there will be selection as the number of images will be limited to a manageable number for exhibiting. The exhibition will be shown online and will be promoted through the various networks and websites.

When the nice new Nike store opened in Liverpool recently they invited locals to paint their on design onto trainers. Some were ok but I think its a job that’s best left to the professionals like Andy Forshaw (that’s one of his pictured here).
Other illustrators commissioned by Design agency Accept & Proceed to create a series of trainers for Nike include Jon Burgerman, Oliver Hibert, Steve Wilson.
