Big news from the Director of the Museum of Computer Art (MOCA) which until now has been purely virtual
I just signed a lease for the Museum of Computer Art’s own live physical gallery in New York.
This achieves a long-standing ambition: to provide a brick-and-mortar space for the display and promotion of digital art. Occupancy commence September 1, 2008.
You can read about it and get a first glimpse here:

I hope you will want to visit and participate. I’ll keep you informed as the gallery takes shape.

‘Hat Man’ limited edition computer art by Ringo Starr
Don’t worry – all the money from sales goes to charity.
“I started in the late nineties with my computer art. While I was touring it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road” – Ringo 2005
“Most of the titles for my pieces arrived because on computer you have to call them something , so I have. The easy way to look at it is, if it has a hat on – it will probably be called Hat Man” – Ringo 2005

The Art of Aardman at the Illustration Cupboard
15 May – 07 June 2008
22 Bury St, London, SW1Y 6AL
The Illustration Cupboard in association with Aardman Animations is delighted to present for the first time an exhibition of the original artwork by these world famous studios including Oscar winner Nick Park, Peter Lord and the Aardman Animations studio.
Aardman Animations’ films are now world famous, and the much-loved heroes Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep as well as the original claymation cult character Morph have all become household names.
Included will be original work by both Nick Park and Peter Lord with character studies, film storyboards and character development artwork. All artwork will be on view for at the gallery for enthusiasts and collectors to see and will be available for purchase offering enthusiasts an unmissable opportunity.
To further celebrate the launch of this exhibit, Aardman Animations and The Illustration Cupboard have produced unique giclée edition of the original Morph still photography. This edition will be limited to only 95 and each will be signed and numbered by creator, animator and Aardman founder member Peter Lord.
Aardman Animations was founded in 1976 by Peter Lord and David Sproxton. The first major commission for the studio was to produce animated sequences for the children’s art series Vision On with the popular animated clay character Morph. Nick Park’s subsequent Creature Comforts was the first Aardman production to win a first Academy Award Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 1990.
Nick Park also developed the now world-famous clay-modeled shorts featuring the adventures of two unlikely heroes Wallace and Gromit in A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave. The first won a BAFTA and the subsequent two both Oscars in 1993 and 1995 respectively. In 2000 Aardman Animations produced their first feature film Chicken Run, which was an international hit. This was followed in 1995 by Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit for which Aardman and Nick Park won a further Oscar. More recently the studio has had great success with its character Shaun the Sheep, the star of his own CBBC TV show.
Opening hours:
Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm

From our friends at The LittleChimpSociety…
Just a short and sweet newsletter. Although a number of you already know, I just wanted to bring to the attention to those who don’t that recently the LCS was plagiarized (images and LCS interviews) and published as a book called Colorful Illustrations 93 degrees C! This was done without the knowledge or permission of me or anyone involved.
For more information read my blog post about it…
http://apefluff.com/colorful-illustrations-93c-please-do-not-buy-this-book/
What can you do to help?
Please make as many people aware of this as possible by linking to the above post from any social networks, blogs, portal, or news submission sites you can get to. This will bring awareness to the situation and hopeful shame the resellers into removing it from there stock and sites.
And if anyone is feeling brave please ring Index Book on (+34) 93 454 55 47 and ask them POLITELY to stop selling it
Please they are Spanish, but have English speaking staff.
I personally use http://www.jajah.com/ for long distance calls.
Thanks for your time and I appreciate your continued support.
